Campo Lameiro, April 2, 2025.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited Catoira and held an institutional meeting with the mayor, Xoán Castaño, to whom he presented the possibility of adhering to the Lana State Administration agreement, thus allowing personnel of state services to move to the municipality to carry out administrative procedures with the neighborhood.
The programme, which is aimed at municipalities with less than 8,000 inhabitants, is part of the State actions to combat population loss in rural areas and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of small municipalities. The deputy delegate explained to the mayor that from now on official staff of the Subdelegation will visit the City Council to help him in obtaining the digital certificate and advise him in the use of the application "My Citizen Folder", which contains all the files that each administrator has with the State. They will also receive a visit from staff of the Social Security Treasury to facilitate the use of the “Importass” application, very useful for the efforts made by self-employed workers or to initiate the application for the Minimum Vital Income, for example. In addition, the staff of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) will be incorporated for various procedures and, in the near future, those of the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the Public Employment Service (SEPE) will also be incorporated.
Abel Losada also reported on the impact of the latest call for state aid of the UNICO 5G Activa Plan, which will make possible the technological modernization of four mobile towers of the municipality with the installation of 5G modules, thus increasing not only coverage but bandwidth. This will adapt the towers of Mullerura-Fontenla, Sano Isidro-Fornelos, Couso-Padín and the one located north of the urban center of Campo Lameiro, near the school.
The subdelegate meant that the Government of Spain approved a total contribution of 3.3 million euros to the province of Pontevedra to accelerate the arrival of 5G in the purchased liberalized telecommunications. He stressed that many of the province’s antennas operate simultaneously with 4G-LTE, 3G and same 2G technologies.
On the other hand, he told the mayor that with the last call for the UN-Broadband Plan, Campo Lameiro will see the connection of 16 other homes. All “attachments” must be made by the awarding company (Avatel) before December 31 of this year, the end date of the government plan to expand the optical fiber throughout the national territory, placing Spain among the countries with the most connectivity in the world.
