Meis, March 24, 2025.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited today the City of Meis, which became one of the first municipalities in the province of Pontevedra to sign the agreement "The Administration Near You", a program promoted by the Government of Spain that aims to bring state administrative services closer to the neighborhood of small municipalities. This programme is aimed at localities with less than 8,000 inhabitants and is part of the Government ' s efforts to combat population loss in rural areas and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The deputy delegate held a meeting with the mayor of Meis, Marta Giráldez, and with councilors of the municipal government in which he thanked them for being one of the first municipalities to sign the agreement and in which he stressed the importance of this agreement to facilitate the access of citizens to the administrative procedures offered by the State Administration. Thus, from now on, official staff of the Subdelegation will travel to the City Council to offer support in obtaining the digital certificate and in the use of the application "My Citizen Folder", a tool that allows to consult all personal files in relation to the State.
In addition, it will have the visit of staff of the Social Security Treasury, which will facilitate the use of the application "Importass", especially useful for workers and self-employed workers or to initiate the application of the Minimum Vital Income. The programme will also include the movement of staff from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) to carry out various administrative procedures. It is expected that the services of the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) will also be incorporated in the near future.
During the meeting, the subdelegate stressed the importance of this initiative and of working to facilitate the arrival of administrative procedures in municipalities “dispersed and, in particular, to the elderly, who tend to have greater difficulties in the management of technologies.”
For her part, the mayor was “proud” to be one of the first municipalities in the province to join the program and highlighted the City Council’s commitment to offer training actions on new technologies “that always have a lot of interest”. Thus, he thanked the Government of Spain and the Subdelegation for the implementation of “The Administration Near You” so that neighbors and neighbors can carry out procedures and access the different services without having to travel.
On the other hand, the deputy delegate and the mayor reviewed the progress of the UN-Broadband Plan, which is allowing the arrival of optical fiber in the most isolated areas thanks to state funding. No case of Meis, this new call will allow the fiber of 87 homes of mine to be hooked, so the end of the year will be 500 real estate units with broadband connectivity thanks to the funds of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, thus guaranteeing access to the high-speed Internet in areas where the private initiative has not yet arrived.
The subdelegate stressed that programs such as "The Administration Near You" and the Single Plan are fundamental to guarantee equal opportunities in rural areas and facilitate access to public administration and new technologies, thus strengthening territorial structuring and the development of less populated areas.
