The deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, held today a meeting with the mayor of Foz, Francisco Cajoto, and the president of the Xesús Bal y Gay Foundation, an entity benefiting from the aid of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), dependent on the Ministry of Culture. The meeting served to highlight this support, which aims to support festivals, contests, tours, stable programs and other initiatives that promote the dissemination of dance, lyric and music throughout the territory.
The subdelegate stressed the importance of these grants for the cultural fabric of the province of Lugo and encouraged all interested entities to submit their applications before March 26, the deadline for applying for these funds, which in this call amount to 8,058,172 euros throughout the State.
One of the examples of the impact of this aid is that of the Xesús Bal y Gay Foundation, organizer of the Bal y Gay Festival, an event of reference in the panorama of classical music that brings together in La Mariña the performers of national and international prestige. The Foundation received 10,000 euros in the previous call, which allowed them to expand the programming and consolidate the festival as an essential meeting point for the melomanian public.
Rodríguez recalled that these grants, granted on a competitive basis, contribute to equal access to culture and the creation of new audiences, while promoting projects that include the gender perspective, the promotion of female talent and support for initiatives that favor diversity and inclusion.
The application period for INAEM grants is open
The INAEM grants are intended for national and international tours, festivals, contests, exhibitions, congresses and stable #programming in scenic and musical spaces. Also included are grants for artistic residences and composition commissions linked to premieres.
One of the novelties of the call for 2025 is the upward revision of the minimum aid granted, which will now be a minimum of 40% of the amount requested, depending on the project score. In addition, gender equality, the promotion of female talent and the presence of women in positions of responsibility within the subsidized initiatives will be particularly valued this year.
Applications must be submitted exclusively telematically through the website of the Ministry of Culture before 23:59 hours on March 26 . All the information can be consulted in the following link:

The Bal and Gay Festival, a must for classical music in La Mariña
The Bal and Gay Festival, organized by the Xesús Bal and Gay Foundation, was consolidated in recent years as one of the reference musical dates in Galicia. Thanks to the support of INAEM, the Foundation was able to expand its programming and attract artists of recognized national and international prestige.
In the last edition of the festival, the attendees had the opportunity to enjoy concerts by renowned performers, such as the pianist Judith Jáuregui, the string quartet Cosmos Quartet, and the formation Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, among others. The stages of the festival cover different emblematic spaces of the Lucense Marina, bringing classical music to diverse audiences and promoting cultural decentralization.
The subdelegate of the Government in Lugo highlighted the impact of this festival, which not only promotes musical excellence, but also dynamizes the local economy and contributes to the cultural projection of the region.
