The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, conveyed to the neighbors of Laraño the commitment of the Adif to modify the acoustic screens of the Atlantic Axis as it passes through the town. He did so within the framework of a meeting with the president of the association of neighbors of this parish of the city of Santiago de Compostela, Julio Luis Fernández, who was also attended by the head of Construction of the Adif, Iago Rodríguez-Lorasque.
“The Government, after analyzing the particularities of this case, will respond to the demands of Laraño’s neighbors and will place translucent acoustic screens next to their homes,” said Rivas. However, the subdelegate stressed that “this is an exceptional case” because of the layout of the screens themselves and because of the proximity to the homes and other patrimonial elements.
In this way, the Adif reviewed the environmental impact study to find a fit for this solution, which will force to raise the budget of the action. In this regard, María Rivas stressed that the placement of screens is a legal duty that, in addition to guaranteeing security, seeks to minimize the impact of infrastructure on people’s daily lives.
“The government is sensitive to the demands of the neighbors and neighbors and in this case, given that the particularities allow it, we can respond to what the people of Laraño asked of us,” concluded the subdelegate.
