The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, announced that next Wednesday, March 5, the humanization works of the N-550 will begin in Milladoiro (Ames) in the Padrón sense. It did so after participating in the meeting of the commission to monitor this work, which is executed by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility with 4.4 million euros from the Government Recovery Plan.
In this meeting, in which the mayor of Ames, Blas García, the head of the Demarcation of Roads in Galicia, Ángel González del Río, and representatives of the neighborhood and business associative fabric also participated, the subdelegate also reported two modifications in the project to facilitate mobility and improve the safety, both of vehicles and pawns. It is the construction of a provisional roundabout in Galanas to connect with the VG-1.7, which connects the N-550 with the Brión-Santiago motorway as well as maintain the second lane to access from the roundabout that connects with the SC-20 by Rosalía de Castro to Raxoeira Street.
María Rivas highlighted the good progress of the works, which next week will already be in progress in the first section in both directions, and pointed out the fact that the beginning of the new works in the Padrón direction will take place on a non-school day, “which allows to minimize the affectations to traffic and facilitate the adaptation of this new phase of the works.”
The deputy delegate thanked the different entities involved for their work to bring this action to a successful conclusion, “called to turn this section of national into a more friendly space and, consequently, to improve the lives of the neighbors of the Milladoiro”.
It also welcomed the welcome measures put in place to meet the demands of the neighbourhood, businesses and social groups. In this regard, the deputy delegate and the mayor recalled that, for any consultation related to the works, the citizens have at their disposal a work office located in Calle de las Palmeras, 83 from 9:00 to 13:00 hours and from 15:00 to 18:00 hours from Monday to Friday; the contact telephone 881 817 218 and an electronic address (milladoiro@eptisa.com) in which they can make claims, incidents or suggestions associated with the humanization works of the Milladoiro crossing.
