The deputy delegate of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, together with the mayor, Manuel Lorenzo Varela, approved the security device of the 42nd edition of the ‘Wine Fair of Chantada 2025’, which will be held between 7 and 9 March in the town of Lucense. They did so at the local security board, where the deputy delegate stressed that the goal of the planned operation is that, during the celebration, “the neighborhood only has to worry about having fun and having fun.”
Isabel Rodríguez pointed out that Chantada maintains a crime rate that is 6 points below the province’s average and 12 below the regional average. “The municipality ended the year 2024 with a crime rate of 22.9 crimes per thousand inhabitants, almost 3% lower than the previous year. These data show that we are working well and that the State Security Forces help the neighborhood and work for and for it,” said the deputy delegate.
The subdelegate recalled that the city of Chantada is one of the adherents of the VioGen System, which allows the monitoring of cases of gender violence, which is carried out through the Ministry of the Interior. Between 2020 and 2024 Chantada received more than 55 thousand euros for training and awareness actions against gender violence. “The Government demonstrates, once again, its involvement with the City of Chantada and does so through a program that allows to develop awareness and sensitization activities against male violence.”
Lugo’s deputy delegate also recalled the importance of the activities that the Civil Guard promotes in the city council through the Education Master Plan. “Last year, thanks to the Director Plan of the Ministry of the Interior, the Civil Guard held 7 talks on harassment and cyberbullying, 4 on addictions, 2 on hate crimes and one on road safety. "Issues that must be the order of the day so that our youth can react in the event of facing this type of situation," said the subdelegate.
In this regard, he congratulated the city council and the Security Forces and Corps for giving, so far in the course, 4 conferences and scheduling, in the coming months, another thirteen.
In this regard, the City Council and the Civil Guard Command will organize training activities around May 2, the International Day against Bullying. “This is what I mean when I talk about collaboration between the different administrations. This is the clear example of cooperation,” said the deputy delegate.
