The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited today the Arsenal of Ferrol to know the progress of the works carried out by State Ports, together with the Concello de Ferrol and the Xunta de Galicia, to humanize the maritime front of the city and return spaces to the citizens. “This action, which is part of the project ‘Opening Ferrol to the Sea’ is another example of the Government’s commitment to Ferrol, with investments that exceed 5 billion euros,” said the deputy delegate.
In this respect, María Rivas indicated that the project to open Ferrol to the Sea “serves to respond to a historical demand of the citizens, as do other projects implemented by the Government in the city.” Among them, he highlighted the humanization of the Avenida de las Pías, in which the Government invests 11 million euros; the rehabilitation of the Castillo de San Felipe, the construction of social housing or the agreement signed between the City of Ferrol and the Ministry of Defense to put at the service of the ferrolanos and the ferrolanas the lands of the former barracks of Sánchez Aguilera.
Along the same lines, the subdelegate also highlighted other works carried out by the Ministry of Transport in the city, such as rail access to the external port of Caneliñas or the improvement of the internal rail network, “works that serve to dynamize the industrial activity of Ferrol, as do the more than 4.5 billion invested by the Ministry of Defense in the construction of the new frigates of the Navy or in the technological improvement of Navantia,” said Rivas.
All these actions, he said, make Ferrol the Galician city that concentrates greater investment in less time by the Government of Spain. “It’s money to bring the smile back to Ferrol and its citizens, who contribute to improving the quality of life and provide the city with the infrastructure it needs.”
