The deputy delegate of the Government, María Rivas, highlighted today in A Coruña the consolidation in Galicia of the Cyberleague promoted by the Civil Guard, which managed in its sixth edition to reach the 51 educational centers of Galicia and involve the 1,400 students of 4th of the ESO in this competition. The subdelegate pointed out that, behind this success, there is the “effort of the men and women of the Civil Guard who carried out the formations and the monitoring of the tests, encouraging the educational centers to be part of this great competition at the national level.” With this initiative, which materializes in Galicia in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, Universities and Professional Training, the Civil Guard seeks to promote a safe digital environment and sensitize minors with respect to the necessary protection in the use of new technologies.
María Rivas presided in the Cuartel de Lonzas the act of awarding diplomas to the twelve Galician teams that remained in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in this competition in each of the Galician provinces. Of these, the teams of the Armando Cotarelo Valledor Integrated Public Center (Boimorto-A Coruña); the CPR Plurilingual Real Colegio Padres Escolapios (Monforte de Lemos–Lugo) and the IES de Meaño (Meaño–Pontevedra) will represent Galicia in the final phase at national level, which will be held from March 10 to 14 at the Academy of Civil Guard Officers, located in Aranjuez, Madrid.
The event was attended by the Chief General of the Galician Area of the Civil Guard, Miguel Ángel González, along with the Colonel Chief of the A Coruña Command, Fernando Pedreira: the General Director of Educational Planning and Innovation, Judith Fernández; and the leaders and students of the winning educational centers of the centers that participated in the contest.
In her speech, María Rivas also took the opportunity to congratulate the winning teams and the rest of the participants of this edition for winning “in knowledge and skills” during the competition, whose main objective is to raise awareness of the safe and responsible use of new technologies to have a safer digital experience”.
