The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, invited the associations of mothers and fathers (Anpas) of the educational centers of the province to participate in the Master Plan for the coexistence and improvement of security in the educational centers and their environments, promoted by the Delegation of the Government hand in hand with the forces and bodies of security of the State. He did so during a videoconference meeting with 86 Anpas of the province in which he insisted that the involvement of families is essential so that the Coexistence Plan can reach the entire school community and develop its activities successfully.
In the meeting, in which Xosé Lois García Carballido, director of the High Inspection of Education area, the head of the Unit Against Violence on Women of the Subdelegation, Manuela Vilaboy and representatives of the National Police, Civil Guard and the Inspection of Education of the Xunta, also participated, María Rivas took the opportunity to gather the suggestions and needs of the parents’ associations to establish mechanisms to bring them closer to the activities of the plan and thus improve its efficiency.
“The objective is to get families involved in the activities, because through them they reinforce the work that is done in schools when dealing with issues such as cyberbullying, the use of technologies, violence of any kind, data protection or additions to the game or technology, among others,” said Rivas.
The subdelegate recalled that 47,481 people participated last year in the activities of the Coexistence Education Plan in the province, 10% more than those of the previous year, with a significant increase in the number of mothers and fathers, which went from 846 in the 2022/2023 academic year to 1,212 in the last academic year. “Our will is that this figure continues to grow, because the more training we have, the better prepared we will be to face the problems of our youth,” he concluded.
In this regard, he recalled that since last year the Anpas can directly request the activities, in which the tools are given to families so that young people and young people are more prepared and protected against various threats, so he encouraged them to take the step and request these formations.
