Pontecesures, January 21, 2025.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited Pontecesures today and, accompanied by the mayor, María Teresa Tocino, and the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Roque Araújo, toured the shores of the N-550 road on which the State Road Demarcation has carried out an action to improve road safety in José Nuevo Street and in the Redondo area.
The action responds to a request made to the subdelegate last May on his first visit to the town, shortly after his inauguration. The result of this was an action valued at 60,000 euros that allowed to provide a continuous concrete sidewalk these two spaces, properly separating with a line of bollards the pedestrian zone of the parking band that is now regulated online to avoid the exit of the vehicles turning back the national road. At the same time, in the area of José Nuevo Street, the City Council took the opportunity to replace and improve its water supply network.
The subdelegate stressed that the requests of the merchants who asked that some sections of the Redondo, coinciding with their businesses, had been free of bollards were also heard. Losada concluded that, in this way, it was possible to combine the improvement of road safety with the necessary provision of parking for the commercial fabric.
