The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas visited today the new facilities of ICEX in the city, where she was received by the Provincial Director, Myriam Pérez Nogueira. During the visit, the subdelegate highlighted the good behavior of exports in Galicia, which in the first half of the year grew by 3.5%, reaching the value of sales of Galician products abroad of 15.5 billion euros.
In this regard, the subdelegate recalled that for example, the textile sector, with a strong weight in data in the province of A Coruña, was one of the ones that contributed most to the good progress of Galician exports, with 3,757 million euros and 1.95% more in the first half of the year.
The subdelegate stressed the importance of these new facilities for the promotion of foreign trade and the internationalization of Galician companies, which allows to reinforce the commitment of the Government with the Galician business fabric, highlighting that "the new ICEX facilities in A Coruña represent a significant step to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies in the global purchase".
María Rivas also highlighted the importance of the activity carried out by ICEX, highlighting the weight that exports have for our companies. “ICEX plays a very important role not only in enabling companies to open up their business strategies abroad, but also in providing essential information and support.”
These new facilities will allow to offer a better service to the companies of the province, facilitating their access to international purchases and contributing to the economic growth of the region.
In this sense, he stressed that in recent months the work of promoting the internationalization of Galician companies was intensified, especially in the province of A Coruña with the aim of supporting them in their outbound, either as exporters or investors, and also attracting foreign investments to the province.
He also highlighted the collaboration with chambers of commerce, regional organizations and business organizations to promote the internationalization of the economy of the province.
The Provincial Directorate carries out inspection, commercial quality control and safety of certain agri-food and industrial products through the SOIVRE Inspection Service (Official Export Inspection, Surveillance and Regulation Service).
The Provincial Directorate of A Coruña is part of the Territorial Network of the Secretary of State for Trade, composed of 31 Territorial and Provincial Directorates throughout Spain, and acts as a delegation of ICEX-Spain Export and Investments.
The visit concluded with a tour of the new facilities, where María Rivas took the opportunity to thank Myriam Pérez and all the staff for the work they do in the ICEX that contributes to the good progress of the companies of the province, facilitating the possibility of expanding markets had been from our borders.
