The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, visited the city of Bergondo, where she took the opportunity to value, together with the mayor, Alejandra Pérez, the completion of the energy rehabilitation works of the house of the city, in which the Government invests 457,016 euros through the Program of Impulse and Rehabilitation of Public Buildings (PIREP), financed from the funds of the Recovery Plan.
María Rivas pointed out that this work includes the total improvement of the thermal envelope, which was carried out by renovating the exterior insulation of the facades and roofs, intervening the holes of the perimeter walls, replacing the exterior carpentry and installing sun protection with interior and exterior shutters.
The goal of energy rehabilitation is to reduce final energy consumption by 95%, and drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
To achieve this, the project also includes the renovation of thermal installations, installing a new heating and cooling system by means of aerothermal, which is complemented by photovoltaic panels. The interior and exterior luminaires were also replaced by a more modern and efficient system of LED technology.
María Rivas pointed out that in the province of A Coruña the local PIREP injects 11,730,184.13 euros to ten municipalities to finance the rehabilitation of 11 buildings of its ownership.
The City of Santiago obtains funds for two works (3,319,427 euros to improve the sports facilities of Vite and Santa Isabel). The municipalities of Ferrol (215,777 euros for the rehabilitation of the neighborhood of Serantes), Arteixo (199.877 euros for the rehabilitation of the chapel of the Balneario as muliumos room), Bergondo (457,016 euros for the energetic rehabilitation of the House of the City Hall), Betanzos (1,482,081 euros for the Market of Supplies), Porto do Son (241,537.50 euros for the House of the River), Rianxo (978,710 euros for the rehabilitation of the City Hall)
“We are talking about projects in which environmental sustainability is very important, since one of the objectives of the Program is to promote more energy-efficient public buildings, along with accessibility and architectural quality,” said the deputy delegate.
The subdelegate reported that the PIREP, through its two lines, the one directly executed by the Government and the one managed by the Xunta, left 30 million euros in aid in the province. “Investments that are above all serving to improve and empower the spaces in which administrations provide fundamental services for citizens,” he said.
María Rivas stressed the importance of the Recovery Plan funds reaching all municipalities, including the smallest ones, “it is about ensuring that people living in less populated municipalities also have the same opportunities and quality services,” she said.
Local Security Board
During the morning, there was also a joint meeting of the Local Security Xunta, which was presided over by the subdelegate and more by the mayor, in which a positive assessment of the security data of the city council was made and the collaboration and coordination between the Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police was highlighted.
In this regard, a subdelegate reported that, in view of the data of the year 2023, the city of Bergondo has a crime rate 8 points below the provincial one. The data indicate that Bergondo had 29 crimes per thousand inhabitants, being 37.5 per thousand for the whole province. This rate is also below the Galician average (35) and well below the state average of 51 crimes per thousand inhabitants.
The comparison with the previous year reflects a notable improvement in the rate of clarification of minor offences and prison offences, and a similar figure in terms of serious and less serious offences. It also significantly improves the percentage of clarifications in the total number of scam crimes.
VioGen
Another important point of the Xunta Local Security meeting was the analysis of data relating to gender violence. The subdelegate reported that at the moment, in the province of A Coruña there are 2,668 victims in VioGen.
The subdelegate noted that the Government has a commitment to “each of the 2,2668 victims: the commitment to work constantly to protect them and their families.” This task, he said, “is only possible through the collaboration and coordination of the administrations.”
Thus, he recalled that in the province there are already 28 municipalities that formalized their incorporation to VioGen, and that another 6 municipalities are currently in the process of accession. He also stressed the importance of working through the Interinstitutional Coordination Tables, which already incorporate 52 municipalities in the province.
Finally, the subdelegate cited the activities carried out under the State Pact against Gender Violence as another example of the collaboration between the different institutions in this matter, and for which the city of Bergondo received from 2018 a total of 62,912.87 euros within the framework of the State Pact, 17,924.86 in the last year: “They are training, awareness-raising and prevention actions that are carried out at the local level and that are very necessary to advance social awareness.”
