The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, participated today in the ‘Green Thursday’, a forum on economy and environment organized by the digital newspaper Quincemil, in which she highlighted the impact of the funds of the Government Recovery Plan “in the construction of the sustainable Galicia of the future”.
The subdelegate announced that the Government has already mobilized around 1.8 billion euros in the community aimed at sectors and strategic objectives, including projects related to renewable energy, energy storage or energy efficiency, to which it allocates around 500 million euros. This amount must be added to the more than 320 million focused on boosting business sectors “in which not only industrial modernization is taking precedence, but also digitalization and the commitment to sustainability,” said Rivas.
“We are talking about circular economy projects or initiatives for mobility or sustainable tourism; resources that are not only transforming our infrastructures, but also strengthening our economic and social fabric, generating employment and ensuring a fairer and more environmentally friendly development,” said the deputy delegate, who encouraged individuals and companies to “not miss the unique opportunity represented by the funds of the Government Recovery Plan.
For María Rivas, “we are at a crucial moment for Galicia and for our entire planet”, since we have to face unique and unpostponable challenges such as stopping climate change, that is why she celebrated the opportunity of this day, in which solutions will be debated and built around sustainability and that will contribute to “situate Galicia as a reference in the conversation about the great environmental challenges”.
This respect, he recalled that sustainability “is not only a goal, but a path that we must travel together: public administrations, companies, and citizens” and added that the commitment of the Government of Spain in this matter is firm, as shown by the funds for projects of green economy and sustainable infrastructures or the Integrated National Energy Plan, “initiatives, all of them, that share the common objective of improving people’s lives”.
