The deputy delegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, received the mayor of Xinzo de Limia, Amador Díaz, and the councilor of Works, Ramón Gómez, to discuss various issues of interest to the municipality.
At the meeting, they delved into the evolution of the irrigation modernization works of the Nova Limia Irrigation Community, for which the Ministry of Agriculture allocated 29.7 million euros. Works that began in August 2024, with an execution period of 24 months, and that will benefit 1,822 irrigators who cultivate 2,576 hectares in the municipalities of Xinzo, Trasmire, Sarreaus and Porqueira. The aim of this project is to replace the existing irrigation systems with diesel engine pumps and surface aluminum pipes, with modern irrigation networks powered by groundwater catchments and with remote control.
It is included in the program for the improvement of the efficiency and sustainability of irrigation of the Government Recovery Plan, so that the public contribution reaches a maximum of 80% of the expenses and the irrigators contribute the rest.
The deputy delegate also discussed with the mayor and the mayor the awarding, last October, by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) of the aid corresponding to the first call for subsidies of the PERTE (Strategic Projects for Recovery and Economic Transformation) of digitization of the water cycle, which are also part of the Recovery Plan. Among the beneficiaries of this aid is the Community of Irrigators of Antela, which will receive more than 183,000 euros.
Finally, they addressed the current situation of the project of humanization of the crossing of Xinzo in the N-525, which has an estimated base budget of 3,941,139.34 €, in charge of the Ministry of Transport, Movilidade and Urban Agenda. In this sense, the subdelegate informed the municipal representatives that the procedures of the same "go at a good pace and the bidding will be imminent".
