The Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense hosted this morning the presentation of the 40th edition of its traditional Contest of the Constitution, aimed at schoolchildren of all educational levels, who, on this occasion, must carry out work that deals with article 47 of the Magna Charge: “All Spaniards have the right to enjoy decent and adequate housing.” The Government’s deputy delegate, Eladio Santos, explained the choice of this article: “It is a current issue, which is not easy to solve. And it allows us to see the Constitution as something close, which is closely related to the day to day and to the needs of the population.” In addition, he recalled that the average number of works presented each year to this traditional contest exceeds one thousand and “on this occasion we hope to exceed all the figures and, for that, we are carrying out a great dissemination campaign, so we already send the bases to all the educational centers, and we encourage them to participate, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education”.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Subdelegation, Manuel Arias, explained the mechanics of the contest. “Participants in early childhood education, primary education and special education must present a drawing or artistic work, while those in ESO, baccalaureate, vocational training and university can choose between a photograph or the production of a video of no more than one minute in length,” he said. The schools of the province have until November 15 to send to the Subdelegation the creations of their students.
The prizes for the best works will be awarded in the course of an institutional event, which will take place in the Municipal Auditorium of Ourense on December 6 to commemorate the festivity of the Constitution. All the winners will receive a copy of the Constitution which, in addition, for the little ones will be accompanied by a gift and for the winners of the top category, a cultural or technological voucher worth 400 euros, to be spent in establishments adhering to the Government cultural voucher that have a physical store in the province.
The qualifying jury of the presented works will be composed of the subdelegate of the Government, the general secretary and representatives of the City of Ourense, the Xunta de Galicia, the School of Art and Superior Design Antonio Faílde, the PP and the PSOE of the province. Among its members will be found in this edition the Xunta Education Inspector, Laura Pérez, who also attended this presentation. “This year that the contest focuses on the article referring to housing, from the Ministry of Education we see in the different centers various casuistry about the type and access to housing. Therefore, it allows students to show their concerns through their work,” he explained. “This contest is always very well received by schoolchildren as its forty editions show,” he concluded.
