The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, visited this morning the facilities of the INE in Ourense, accompanied by its provincial director, José Manuel Gerpe, to approach the daily work of the officials and the needs of the agency.
Santos took advantage of the visit to learn about the evolution of the Padrón Online project, launched by the Ministry of Territorial Policy in order to offer grants, which are received by provincial councils and destined to local entities of less than 20,000 inhabitants, for the digital transformation and modernization of their municipal register. The larger entities could also join this initiative through an agreement with their respective Deputation.
In relation to this project, José Manuel Gerpe explained that in our province all possible municipalities joined the initiative, and in the specific case of the City of Ourense it was carried out through a collaboration agreement with the Provincial Council.
According to the resolution published in the BOE, the Ministry of Territorial Policy awarded Galicia a total of 4,020,000 euros for this purpose, of which 1,260,000 euros were destined to the municipalities of Ourense.
The Online Register basically consists of two performances. The first seeks to develop two separate databases, one of homes with an identifier based on the cadastral reference, and another of population. On the other hand, the second consists in the implementation of a data exchange system so that the updating of the register, which until now was monthly, is carried out immediately.
In this way, the Online Register will offer a public service of similar quality to all citizens, independent of the technical capacity of its City Council; the improvements on the management applications will be incorporated into an integrated system common to all municipalities, so that the effort and resources that until now was applied by each local entity separately are avoided; and, finally, it allows to know the evolution of the population in real time.
