The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, made this morning an institutional visit to the City of Manzaneda, to meet with his councilor, Amiable Fernandez, and the councilors Antonio Núñez and Marina Luis, the current situation of the municipality, travel part of its most outstanding natural resources and know the status of relevant projects carried out in recent times with funds from the central Government.
Among the topics discussed during the meeting was the contribution of state funding for the implementation of energy saving and efficiency measures in public lighting, carried out in various towns of the city, with a total investment of 389,229.78 euros, by the IDAE, belonging to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
Likewise, the subdelegate reviewed with the mayor the application in Manzaneda during 2023 of the second edition of the INECO RuralTIC program, of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, aimed at digital nomads displaced to the municipality to telework at the same time as they carried out workshops, training and advice on digitalization. The mayor made a great assessment of this program, since the participants still maintain their collaboration with the City Council for the training of new users. The third edition of this project, which comes from the end of the registration period, will be launched in the coming dates.
In addition, Eladio Santos was also interested in the broadband installation process in the different population centers of Manzaneda during recent years, within the UNICO-Broadband Program of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise; for the award of 1,573,031 euros to the municipality within the State Pact against Gender Violence; and for the inclusion of Manzaneda in the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Ribeira Sacra, launched with the collaboration of the Secretary of State for Tourism, the Tourism Agency of Galicia and the Beira Sacra Consortium.
For his part, the municipal councilor approached the subdelegate with the needs of the municipality of financing directed to aid for the rehabilitation and treatment of its historic center. “Although the state of conservation is very good, there are homes that need restoration,” confirmed the deputy delegate. Therefore, the City Council requests a specific plan in order to speed up the recovery of degraded buildings, since Manzaneda is included in the global plan of the historical hulls declared BIC.
International Cultural Heritage Day
On the occasion of the commemoration of the International Day of Cultural Heritage, the subdelegate took advantage of the visit to approach the millenary Castaño de Pumbariños, a unique specimen, catalogued as a unique tree of Galicia. Together with him, he highlighted all the heritage and gastronomic wealth of the area: “Manzaneda has numerous natural and heritage resources that highlight its tourist potential, such as this ancient chestnut tree, Rozavales, the mountain hiking route of the Prada Glacier Valley and another in the Sequeiros area, as well as the Mountain Station itself. Without forgetting the appeal of its traditional carnival, its sausage industry and its production of wines, framed in the DO Ribeira Sacra, and of honey,” he recalled.
