The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, inaugurated this morning in Santiago the training workshop that was held with students and students of 4th grade in the Faculty of Education Sciences of the USC, with the objective of raising awareness of the resources of the State for the prevention, sensitization and denunciation of all types of male violence; as well as explaining guidelines for action in the face of aggressions.
The subdelegate stressed the importance of disseminating to the university community the resources available to the State to deal with any type of male violence. In this regard, he appealed to the role that must be carried out from the educational field, particularly from the University, to raise awareness and prevent behaviors that are contrary to equality and respect for the rights of women.
María Rivas, recalled that violence is not only physical abuse, but occurs in multiple forms, and in all spaces; and that all of us must denounce and combat it. For this reason, it considers it essential to continue looking for collaboration formulas such as the realization of this workshop, to accompany and complement other activities that are promoted from the University.
In this context, the workshop was held by Gala Castellanos, head of the ATEMPRO Service in the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces; Julio César Lorenzo Mourullo, UFAM Wool Inspector of the National Police of A Coruña; and Manuela Vilaboy Romero, head of the Women’s Violence Unit of the Government’s subdelegation.
The information on the State’s resources against male violence focused on the explanation of the system of monitoring by telematic means of the prohibitions of approach imposed in the field of gender violence and sexual violence; the telephone service 016 of information, legal advice and immediate psychosocial attention by specialized personnel; the telephone service of Attention and Protection for victims of violence against women (ATENPRO), a service that, with the appropriate technology, offers the victims immediate attention, 24 hours a day, 365 days; and ALERTCOPS, a free mobile application, created from the General Subdirectorate of Public Security Systems and Communications.
The organization of the activity was in charge of the teaching staff of "Design and elaboration of didactic materials", Jesús Rodríguez Rodríguez, Pablo Gayo Pérez and Silvia López Gómez; to whom the Subdelegate wanted to thank for their involvement.
María Rivas stressed that this workshop is framed within the activities of the subdelegation around 25 N, being financed with funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence.
He recalled that the State Pact is the tool through which the Government expresses its unequivocal commitment in the fight against male violence, materialized in the more than 82 million euros invested in Galicia since 2018 in actions to prevent and combat male violence.
The subdelegate also recalled the new transfer of funds from the Pact of State last June that brings to Galicia 1,052,868.12 euros through 3 calls: personalized plans for women victims of gender violence and their sons and daughters, with 63,595.40€; programs to support victims of sexual assault and/or abuse, with 529,755.36€ and program of right to comprehensive social assistance to victims of gender violence and care for minors, with 459,517.36€
