The deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, and the chief colonel of the Command of the Civil Guard in Lugo, Manuel Touceda, received this morning the students of the 129th Promotion of the Academy of Guards of Baeza, who will carry out the practices in 6 posts in the province. Specifically, 4 men and 4 women between the ages of 23 and 39 will begin the second phase of their training period in the municipalities of Vilalba, Rábade, Monterroso, Sarria, Burela and Foz.
The subdelegate stressed the double objective of “providing an experience on the territory to future civil guards, while improving the presence of professionals in territorial citizen security units, reaching a coverage of more than 95%.”
For 40 weeks, these 8 people will serve in the companies of Lugo, Vilalba, Monforte and Burela, in the aforementioned positions, to later move to the situation of commission of services to the pairo of obtaining destination through contest. Not that it reaches the origin of the students, 6 are from Lugo, 1 from Pontevedra and 1 from A Coruña.
The deputy delegate congratulated the new guards highlighting “the fairness of this promotion, with 4 men and 4 women serving in the province and showing the percentage increase of female students in the training academies and, later, in the Civil Guard”. In this line, he conveyed to them the importance “that you discover in the day-to-day this profession so sacrificed but at the same time beautiful, a few months that in faith you will remember throughout your future career”. In addition, he highlighted the fact that “you start your career in municipalities in this province, where the Civil Guard body is highly respected for its contribution not only in terms of security, but also in the field of social protection.”
Reinforcement of the Civil Guard
Isabel Rodríguez expressed the budgetary and formative increase of the Government so that, at present, the Civil Guard has in Galicia the largest number of troops in its history: more than 5,300 men and women.
In this sense, last June a new offer of public employment was approved that will allow a total of 2,721 student guards to be incorporated into training centers next year, the highest figure since 2009.
