The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, put the company Xallas Electricity and Alloys (Xeal) as an example of the industrial transformation promoted by the government in Galicia with the funds of the Recovery Plan. He did so today during his participation in the events for the 120th anniversary of the Cee factory, where he affirmed that Xeal is the perfect paradigm of this transformation towards a model that has more in mind the territory, the people and the environment, “a path in which he knows that he has the Government of Spain as an ally to face that challenge,” he said.
Pedro Blanco pointed out that this support is demonstrated by facts, “such as the 8.7 million that XEAL comes from receiving from the PERTE of Decarbonization”, an aid that will allow the company to build together with its factory in Dumbría a plant for manufacturing charcoal that, with a total budget of 25 million euros, reducing the ecological footprint of the ferroaliaxes plants up to 20%, which is equivalent to reducing the CO2 emissions of the factories by about 50,000 tons per year.
This state investment is in addition to the 400,000 euros for the digital and ecological transformation of the A Fervenza reservoir, in the Xallas, which receives from the Circular Reempowerment program of the Ministry for Energy Transition, also financed from the funds of the Recovery Plan, and the more than 13 million euros that the company of the Mechanism of Compensation to Electrointensive Consumers of the Ministry of Industry entered. In total, more than 22 million euros in aid in recent years.
In this sense, Pedro Blanco noted that the funds of the Recovery Plan are reaching the business fabric of Galicia to transform the country. “Xeal is another example of the thousands of Galician companies and entrepreneurs who have the government on their side. And the figures show this: 3.5 billion euros already committed in Galicia with 43,000 beneficiary entities, 87% are given by companies of all sizes,” he said.
“We have 3.5 billion opportunities to face the industrial challenges of Galicia, a unique opportunity that we cannot miss; we must be responsible and execute until the last euro”, he added.
Eec factory anniversary
The delegate participated this morning in the 120th anniversary of the Xeal plant in Brens, in the Coruña town of Cee, an event in which he took advantage to convey his congratulations to the company’s directive “and to all the people who at some point were linked to what was and is the industrial heart of the region”.
Pedro Blanco recalled that the Czech firm Energo-Pro “is today the custodian of this centuries-old legacy, an inheritance that is very attached to the land”. Because if we talk about Xeal today “it is thanks to the workers who, with their efforts, and despite the adversities, kept this factory afloat for more than a century; and also to our resources: the quartz of the Serrabal mine and the waters of the Xallas and Grande rivers”, he added.
Finally, he encouraged the company to continue in this line of effort and commitment to the land and reiterated “at the outset of this Government” to make its projects possible.
