The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, went this morning to the Tanco Bookstore of the capital to make known among the young people of Ourense who in 2024 turn 18 years of age the Young Cultural Voucher, launched by the Ministry of Culture, which extended the deadline for submission of applications until October 31.
Santos recalled that this state initiative allows these young people to receive 400 euros, which they can use until the end of the year to acquire and enjoy cultural products and activities, such as opera, theater, cinema, museums, books, press, concerts, music, films and series online, video games… “There are 40 establishments in the province, 24 in the capital, and this makes it easier for young people, for example, to acquire free reading books that they must use in the Baccalaureate or in the studies that they are doing. The goal is for them to have access to culture and, for that, they only have to download an application on their mobile,” he explained.
In addition, the subdelegate also addressed the Ourense merchants. “We encourage all establishments that have to do with the music, culture and artistic creation sector to join this project, if they have not yet done so, because the objective is to encourage purchases in the establishments of the province,” he insisted.
For his part, the manager of Librería Tanco, José Ramón Martínez, was very satisfied with the impact that this initiative has on the sector. “We noticed it a lot, so the booksellers are very grateful for this initiative. One, for the sake of culture; and, another, for the sake of bookstores, since it gives us an economic respite. In addition, they always win new customers,” he said.
With a budget of 210 million euros, collected in the General Budgets of the State, more than 500,000 young people from all over Spain will be able to benefit from this aid.
