Pontevedra, September 18, 2024.- The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, reported today that the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), with the collaboration of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, made available to the public a new application for mobile devices that allows the visualization, in real time, of the National Air Quality Index (ICA) that mark the different measuring stations of the national surveillance network.
This new mobile app allows you to consult the information on air quality, so far only available on the web, in a friendly way. One of the main advantages of the new app is the provision of an interactive map where you can access not only the data in real time, but also the data planned in the future with an anticipation of two days and also the data modelled when measurements are not available.
In the new application, the planned index #calculate and visualize for the stations where at least the three pollutants with the greatest impact on the ICA are measured: ozone, nitrogen dioxide and some of the suspended particles (PM10 or PM2.5).
“reasonably good” quality
Thus, this morning it could be verified that the air quality in the province was “good” in two stations and “reasonably good” in the remaining six, despite the nitrogen indices that were taken from the early morning due to the smoke from the forest fires in Portugal.
The ICA also includes health recommendations for the general population and the sensitive population, and allows to know the evolution of the state of air quality in recent months.
The tool can be downloaded through the common app stores for Android and iOS. With this, MITECO advances its commitment to inform and raise awareness in an even more accessible way to society.
