The delegate supervised the actions accompanied by the mayor and highlighted the municipal character of the Government with an unprecedented commitment to the infrastructure and mobility of the Galician concellos The project awarded by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda will allow to transform two of the existing intersections on the N-642 road into roundabouts, improving access to the concello and increasing road safety The allocation budget exceeds €0.5M and the term of execution of the works ends in a period of 12 months Blanco highlighted the importance of this project, “which exemplifies the effort of the Government to modernise the traffic connections in all areas”.

The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, supervised this morning together with the mayor of Foz, Francisco Cajoto, the beginning of the works of one of the glorietas that will improve access to the town by the N-642. During the visit, the delegate highlighted the firm commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the improvement of communication and access infrastructures throughout Galicia, highlighting the importance of actions such as this in Foz to guarantee the development of the concellos and increase the security of citizens.

Pedro Blanco said that "this project is another example of the government's effort to improve road connections throughout the territory, thus promoting the structuring and growth of our regions." In addition, he stressed that “the two roundabouts that are going to be built on the N-642 will be key to optimize the entrance to the Concello de Foz, benefiting both its neighbors and all those who visit the area,” he said.

The awarding company began work this week, thus giving the starting signal to one of the most anticipated actions by the residents of the region, which is part of a contract signed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda for the improvement of road safety through the transformation of two intersections into roundabouts, in the N-642, pk. 39+910 and 40+970. The allocation budget is 0.5M€ and the execution time of the works ends in 12 months.

For his part, the mayor of Foz expressed his satisfaction for the beginning of works that will significantly improve access to the municipality and contribute to local development.

Project
The project consists of the transformation of the existing intersections located at PPKK 39+910 and 40+970 of the N-642 road into roundabouts, replacement of road markings and lighting, revision and replacement of the vertical signage, conditioning of the pedestrian traffic areas, drainage elements and affected services, in addition to the replacement of access and other services that are affected by the works necessary to arrange the new roundabouts.

This action is intended to optimize road safety and facilitate the flow of traffic on one of the main access roads to the municipality. The works include the construction of a gazebo that will allow a better organization of traffic, reducing the risks of accidents and improving access to Foz.
