The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, celebrated today in Vilalba the Government’s commitment to improving the quality tourism offer represented by the Paradores de Turismo de Galicia, with investments of 35 million euros for the recovery of heritage and improvement and with the drafting of the Conservation Master Plans. Pedro Blanco reported on the progress of these improvements during a visit to the facilities of the Parador de Turismo de Vilalba, in which he was accompanied by the subdelegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez; the mayor of Vilalba, Marta Rouco, and the director of the establishment, Antonio Graña.
There, the delegate advanced that the Ministry of Industry comes from awarding the works of improvement and patrimonial recovery of the Paradores de Baiona and Hostal de los Reis Católica, worth 17.6 million euros. In parallel, the Ministry opened in August to contract the works of improvement of the establishments of Vilalba, San Estevo de Ribas de Sil and Ferrol, for a joint amount of 2 million euros.

During the visit, the delegate detailed the main actions that will be carried out in the Parador de Vilalba, and that exceed the 840,000 euros of base budget. Specifically, they will be works of rehabilitation and conservation of the tower, as well as improvements and renovation of the lighting of the tower and of the beacon with criteria of efficiency and energy efficiency.
To this investment, the delegate added the forecast of Turespaña to add 300,000 euros, which will also be dedicated to improvements of the Tower of Tribute and which are included in the Strategic Plan of Paradores 2023-2026. “I am convinced that these projects will increase the potential of this establishment, already a symbol of Vilalba and the Terra Cha and a tourist, cultural and gastronomic attraction of the entire province of Lugo,” he said.
Pedro Blanco also signified the importance of the contract to draft the Master Conservation Plans of the Paradores that have consideration of Ben of Cultural Interest, as is the case of Vilalba. Currently, and nationally, only the Hostal de los Reis Católica has such a document. The Master Plan of Conservation is a document that allows to know in depth the heritage and its needs, and serves to plan the actions necessary for its conservation and improvement.
