The subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, attended today the implementation of the provisional facilities that will occupy the Civil Guard of Verín while the construction of its new headquarters lasts. It is a space located in the old Plaza de Abastos of the municipality, ceded free of charge by the Concello de Verín, which invested about 20,000 euros to condition the premises to the needs of this temporary use.
During the event, the Deputy Government Delegate reported on the progress of the project for the construction of the new Verín barracks, carried out by the Ministry of the Interior and which has a base budget of 6,310,604.58 € (VAT included). On August 12, the Ministry’s Secretary of State for Security opened the tender procedure with its publication in the Public Sector Procurement Platform, where interested companies can consult the contracting documents, the entire project and the plans and technical specifications. The deadline for submission of tenders is 5 September at 10 a.m.
Eladio Santos stressed the importance of this work, since the Company of Verín, which has 95 workers, serves the concellos of A Gudiña, Riós, Vilardevós, Verín, Oye, Monterrei, Áledro, Trasmirás, Laza, Castrelo do Val and Vilar de Barrio, with a total of 24,775 inhabitants. “This investment by the Ministry of the Interior with funds from the Government of Spain aims to improve the effectiveness and service provided by the Civil Guard in rural areas. The renovation of its facilities and resources allows us to optimize the work of agents and invest in the safety of citizens,” he said.
In addition, the subdelegate explained that the current Verín headquarters occupies a space of about 5,000 m2 of surface built in 1970 and this outstanding state investment will make it possible for the Verín Company to have completely new facilities, since block I will be completely renovated to house 21 homes and the remaining three blocks will be demolished. These three blocks will be replaced by a single three-storey building and basement, where all units of the Company will be located (except the Traffic Detachment). Finally, the exterior and the gardens will be conditioned.
The work will be developed in two phases. The first will be the integral renovation of block I, in which the houses are located, which will have a new exterior insulation, both of the walls and the roof, as well as the windows. More efficient lighting will also be installed. Finally, the installation of solar panels for energy supply is planned.
The second phase will involve the demolition of the blocks II the V and construction of the new building of official dependencies and urbanization.
During the presentation of the provisional facilities, the deputy delegate of the Government was accompanied by the mayor of Verín, Gerardo Seoane, and part of the municipal corporation; as well as other councilors of the region, provincial and regional deputies; the lieutenant colonel head of the Ourense Command, Rafael Berguillo; commanders José Benito Fernández Santamarina and Rodrigo García de la Rosa, and other members of the Civil Guard.
