The Government Delegation reports on the progress of the digitization of the Civil Registry in Galicia following the resolutions published in the BOE that establish the implementation of the DIGIREC application in five new Galician judicial parties this autumn. In this way, from September, and progressively, the citizenship of the judicial parties of Monforte de Lemos and Mondoñedo, in the province of Lugo, and of Tui, O Porriño and Redonda, in the province of Pontevedra, will be able to benefit from the new model of Civil Registry, more agile and efficient both for citizens and for the authorities.
With these additions, the Ministry of the Presidency is moving towards the objective of making this tool available to 100% of the Registries of Galicia by mid-2025. This year, the digitalization of 31 of the 45 judicial parties, in which 2.3 million Galician to Galician reside, will be completed. The last 14 would implement this model in the first half of 2025.
The advantages of this computer application include the electronic processing of files, the registration of facts relating to the civil status of individuals, the organization of registration information in digital format and telematic access to it. Thus, it allows the electronic management of events such as births, marriages and deaths, facilitating citizens access to certificates and procedures remotely and safely.
In the same way, this new Civil Registry allows interoperability between public administrations, thus simplifying procedures, streamlining procedures and contributing to the elimination of displacements and the reduction of waiting times for users.
The implementation of DICIREG in Galicia is part of the process of modernization of justice that is being carried out by the Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, in collaboration with the autonomous communities. The Government of Spain invests 15 million euros in this project from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
