The Government Delegation in Galicia highlights the facilities granted to young people by the Government of Spain, which finances their access to culture with the Cultural Voucher. This measure of the Ministry of Culture received 7,112 applications until the month of July in Galicia, which represents 29.9% of the potential beneficiaries. This is reflected in the Balance Sheet “Complying”, which reviews the commitments made by the Executive since the beginning of this legislature.
The application for the Cultural Voucher can be carried out from this June, ending the deadline on September 16. The aid involves receiving EUR 400 to spend on culture, in any of the cultural industries and businesses, with the national programme being endowed with EUR 210 million.
From the granting of the aid, young people have one year to use the 400 euros in cultural products or services in the affiliated establishments. The Cultural Voucher works with a prepaid card that the beneficiary can have virtually on his mobile or receive physically at home. With this card you can enjoy cultural experiences and products, which are divided into three sections to favor the diversification of spending, with the following distribution:
- 100 euros for physical products, for example, books, press or discs.
- 100 euros for digital products, such as subscriptions to platforms, digital press, podcast or online video games.
- 200 euros for performing arts: theater, opera, cinema, dance, museums...
The objective of the Ministry of Culture with this Bonus has a double impact, both in the pockets of the Galician youth and in the cultural industries. In this way, it should be noted that in the last edition its scope was multiplied both in the number of beneficiaries and in the number of entities and businesses adhered.
The 2023 campaign
The Young Cultural Voucher issued by the Ministry of Culture reached in 2023 66% of the Galician boys and girls who left as possible recipients, 15,339 people in total of about 23,149 potentials, all born in 2005. In its first edition, in the year 2022, the Cultural Bond injected 1.9 million euros into the Community's cultural industries and businesses through the 50,000 sales operations that were made under its charge.
In total, one in two young Galicians who were entitled to this bonus benefited from it in that year 2022, more than 12,500 people, who show the greatest interest generated by this government proposal year after year. Just for that reason, the Government Delegation encourages the 21,392 Galicians and Galicians who turn 18 in this 2024 to get the bonus of this course.
