The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, presented this morning the new provincial maps of the National Geographic Institute accompanied by the director of the Promotion area of the Government Delegation, Ana Quintairos, and the director of the Regional Service of the ING, Pablo Carballo.
The updating of the provincial maps at the 1:200,000 scale includes the modifications in the roads and facilities produced in recent years, “a version that has been working on for some time and that will allow us to have in detail all the accurate information at the geographical level of the province of Lugo”, stressed the subdelegate.
No act of presentation explained that the new maps are already available on the IGN website for free download in PDF format, as well as for purchase and distribution in paper format. Isabel Rodríguez assessed “that they are increasingly accurate to adapt as much as possible to reality, with increasingly complex databases that integrate information on toponymy, hydrography, cartography, etc.”
On the other hand, they stressed that a letter has already been sent to all the municipalities and the Provincial Council informing that they will soon receive two copies of the Provincial Map of Lugo from the General Subdirectorate of Cartography and Observation of the Territory.
The subdelegate stressed that “geographical information is very much in demand today”, congratulating “the great work of the IGN technicians who elaborate with great rigor these documents, used later by public administrations and companies”, concluded Isabel Rodríguez.
