The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today highlighted the fulfillment of the commitments of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with Redonda and with the improvement of the quality of life of the neighborhood of this city hall that lives next to the AP-9 highway. He did so during a visit with the mayor, Digna Rivas, and the deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, to the works of replacement of roads affected by the expansion of the AP-9 in the area of Chapela.
The delegate oversaw the humanization of the environment of the Church of St. Faust. This is one of the actions included in the project carried out by the concessionaire company of the motorway (Audasa) with an investment of 3.21 million euros.
The delegate pointed out that the Government is making steady progress to complete the commitments linked to the expansion of capacity in this way and that there are 15 million investments in Redonda. The three actions are the construction of the new educational center of Chapela, which is already working; the replacement of viaries, which is in execution, and the installation of anti-noise screens. Regarding this last project, Pedro Blanco said that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is already working on the contracting process, which will be opened soon with an exit amount of 7.1 million euros.
During the visit he insisted: “This government is a government that listens and responds to the demands of the neighborhood of Chapela, putting an end to a problem that significantly affected the quality of life of the citizens of the AP-9 environment,” he said.
The delegate stressed the relevance of an action that “will make Chapela more liveable with the improvement of public spaces, the creation of new services and promoting the safe and sustainable mobility of pedestrians and vehicles, “because in this Government we continue to bet on useful communication and we always put people at the center,” added Pedro Blanco. In this regard, the delegate recalled that the Government of Pedro Sánchez opted for the improvement of mobility conditions in the AP-9, with the approval of an unprecedented system of reductions in tolls from which thousands of Galicians and Galicians benefit daily: “Between 2022 and 2023 alone, the government of Pedro Sánchez allocated more than 104 million to bonuses and tolls in the shadows in the AP-9, freeing the citizens from this payment.”
Humanization project
The road replacement and humanization project that is being implemented in Chapela includes the following actions:
- Adaptation and improvement of the Penisal, Torreiro, Camino de la Iglesia and Pasán roads, through the replacement of the firm, provision of sidewalks, creation of landscaped areas and pedestrian paths. It provides continuity to the Camino de la Iglesia until Pasán Street.
- Expansion of the Chapela pedestrian walkway, which crosses over the AP-9 highway.
- Rearrangement of the cross section of the upper passage on the motorway of Pasán Street to allow the provision of a pedestrian itinerary on it.
- The environment of the IES Chapela is also adapted, through the provision of a dock for boarding and boarding students who travel by private vehicle, and who currently do not have space enabled on Avenida de Redonda to carry out this operation.
- Extension of the upper pass of Trasmañó, thus improving the pedestrian itinerary that runs on it.
- Replacement and improvement of the Mouriño road, restoring the firm and building sidewalks.
The works also include the appropriate environmental, aesthetic and landscape integration actions, and are compatible with the anti-noise screen layout action in this section.
