The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, informed in the concello of Taboada of the expansion of postal services in rural areas, with about 1,000 postmen and wallets that serve the 160 auxiliary offices distributed throughout the Galician territory. During his visit accompanied by the mayor, Roi Rigueira, and the deputy delegate of the Government in Lugo, Isabel Rodríguez, he valued the time extension and services of the Post office of the locality, which after its computerization will go from auxiliary office to integrate the network of Post offices, which has 167 throughout Galicia, providing the same services as the other 26 of the province of Lugo.
The visit was also attended by the manager of the northwest area of postal products and services, Xosé Chorén; the head of the network of offices of the province of Lugo, Miguel García; the head of the distribution sector of the province, Manuel Silva; the director of the office of Chantada and responsible for the new office of Taboada, Graciela Feliz; the head of distribution in Chantada, Begoña Carballo; and the head of customer service of the new office, Aurora Baltar.
Pedro Blanco highlighted the Government’s commitment “to bring public services closer to the neighborhood of rural environments, ensuring equal access to resources for all people, especially those living in small concellos.” In this regard, he set an example to the full complement of the Taboada office, thanking all the staff involved and its mayor for their efforts.
During the year 2023, rural posters and portfolios carried out more than 93,000 operations in Galicia, data that according to the delegate “demonstrates the need for these programs that seek to diversify their activity and offer proximity services to facilitate the efforts of people living in rural areas”.
Rural programs
Pedro Blanco mentioned other programs that the Government promotes to bring the administration closer to the citizens, such as the Special Plan of the Tax Agency by which people over 65 years old who reside in concellos of less than 3,000 inhabitants could present in this last campaign their income statement through a video call.
He also gave as an example of this commitment of the Government to facilitate the efforts of the people of the municipalities of the demographic challenge the program 'A administración cerca de ti', among others.
Taboada Office
The Taboada Post Office has improved its attention to the public since today with a new schedule and a greater offer of products and services in its office in General Muinelo Square.
They will open from Monday to Friday from 10:30 to 14:00 hours, a time more adapted to the needs detected by local neighbors and producers and cooperativists. In addition, it means an extension of an hour and a half more respect to the usual office hours.
In terms of services, they include the common sending and receiving of letters and parcels, the entry and withdrawal of cash, the payment of receipts of any supply, contracting of insurance and energy, sale of the ONCE lottery and Red Cross, as well as the payment of prizes and procedures for public administrations and the DGT.
