The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, highlighted today in Lugo the government’s commitment to the Galician dairy sector, which is concretized in initiatives such as the SmarTZ4milk project, which leads the Lence Group, and which received an aid of 9.7 million euros in the first call of the PERTE Agroalimentary.
According to the delegate on a visit to the group’s facilities, in Lugo, in which he was accompanied by its president, Carmen Lence, and the mayor of Lugo, Paula Alvarellos, this project aims to improve the traceability of dairy production and reduce its environmental footprint. “This is an innovative project that seeks to transform the sector; an example that the funds of the Recovery Plan are reaching our business fabric,” said Pedro Blanco.
In this regard, he recalled that, together with the funds of PERTE Campo, which distributed more than 14 million euros among 16 Galician companies, making Galicia the third community with the highest volume of subsidies received, the Government also approached 57 million euros in aid to more than 6,500 Galician milk producers to compensate for the increase in costs due to the war in Ukraine.
“This government believes in the Galician dairy industry, promoting its professionalization and modernization to respond to the challenges ahead. A sector with present and future that must walk face to face sustainable, competitive and profitable production models,” said the delegate.
Pedro Blanco took advantage of the visit to the facilities of the Lence Group in the Ecowas polygon to also announce that soon the Government will launch the second call for the PERTE Campo, endowed with €300M, to favor the reindustrialization of our country. “The companies know that they have in the Government their best ally, the Galician dairy industry knows it and the more than 5,600 Galician milk farms also,” said the delegate, who pledged the support of the Government “to continue working hand in hand with one of the engines of the rural economy, which nourishes the population with a healthy and quality food like our milk.”
