The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, held a meeting this morning to coordinate the security device for the celebration of the San Xoán festival in A Coruña. The meeting was attended by the Provincial Head of the National Police, Fernando J. Martínez together with officials of the citizen security brigades and the Police Intervention Unit (UIP) of the National Police; the mayor of the Local Police of A Coruña, José Manuel Rico and the Captain Head of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, José Antonio Niño.
The deputy delegate of the Government reported that in view of the coverage of this celebration that has the character of Festival of International Tourist Interest, the National Police will mobilize about 140 troops distributed throughout the city but with special presence in the beach areas that will be coordinated through the Advanced Command Post that will be installed in the Coraza del Orzán, and in which the commanders responsible for the different security and emergency bodies will be integrated. In addition, the National Police will have different surveillance systems to control the influx of people throughout the city.
The Tedax subsoil teams and canine guides of the National Police will monitor the different sections of the promenade and the underground car parks doing the necessary work of requisition in this type of event. The mobile brigades will carry out preventive work at the train and bus stations and the presence of patrols in different points of the city coordinated with the local police will be strengthened.
2 drones will be deployed to intervene if necessary in addition to performing unauthorized drone stopping and inhibiting tasks.
In addition, an anti-theft mechanism will be established with mixed teams of National Police and Local Police, in which information teams and judicial police will participate to act from the perspective of prevention and thus be able to anticipate the commission of this type of crime.
In addition, the Family and Women’s Unit specializing in Gender Violence, UFAM, will be integrated into the static violet point that will be installed on the Paseo Maritimo and it is planned to reinforce the UFAM’s own teams in the face of the possibility of complaints related to gender violence.
In this regard, and in view of Monday 24, the teams for receiving complaints will also be strengthened to service the appearances of the patrols themselves as well as the people who require this service.
The subdelegate of the Government appealed to the responsibility of the citizens so that the people who come to enjoy this celebration respect at all times the indications of the State Security Forces and Local Police, and try to carry as few objects of value as possible, with the aim of preventing possible thefts or losses. These messages will be reinforced throughout the afternoon through megaphone services.
In this security device will also participate the Civil Guard boat that will carry out surveillance work. There will also be the collaboration of Salvamento Maritimo, services that will be activated if necessary.
