The Government’s deputy delegate in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, visited Librería Miranda in Bueu this morning to congratulate her on joining the Ministry of Culture’s Elective Affinities program. A program in which a total of five bookshops in the province are participating, given that the Seijas and Paz establishments, in the city of Pontevedra, were also joined; Libros para Sueño, in Vigo, and Arte Ciencia, in Mos.
Losada, who was received by the manager of the historic establishment, Fernando Miranda, explained that the program consists of literary meetings with authors in all the official languages of the State, so the Galician events sunset with authors and authors with work published in our language.
The program, in the province, will start on July 4 at the Pontevedresa Seijas bookstore, where Esther Gili and Nuria Díaz will be. Already on September 27 in Libros para Sueño (Vigo) the reading people will be able to share time with Antonio Manuel de lana Santísima Trinidad and Noemí Vilamuza. The event at the Miranda bookstore in Buenos Aires is scheduled for September 28th and will feature Mario Obrero and Miriam Ferradáns. The next event will be on October 5 at the Arte y Ciencia bookstore, in Mos, where Ramón Domínguez and Andrea Maceiras will be present. The Elective Affinities’ journey will end on October 26 at the Paz bookstore, in Pontevedra, with the presence of the authors Aitor Romero and Silvia Dolores.
Throughout Spain the program offers 86 activities (13 more than last year), of which 15 take place in Galicia. A total of 172 creators and creators participate in Spanish, Galician, Basque, Valencian, Catalan, Aragonese and Bable. It is an initiative of the General Directorate of Books, Comics and Reading since 2020. The aim is to boost the activity of independent libraries, as well as that of authors and authors. Plurality and linguistic diversity are the driving notes of this program.
The title “Elective Affinities” has to do with Goethe’s work of the same name, which defends that “you can only understand others by having understood what you are related to”.
