The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, approached Betanzos this morning, where together with the mayor, María Barral, and members of the municipal corporation visited the works of the Market of Supplies of the town and whose amount amounts to 1,482,081.58€.
This action is in its final phase, and will be carried out under Line 1 of the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings of local entities (PIREP Local).
The subdelegate informed during the visit that the deadline for the execution of the works carried out under this Line 1 of the Local PIREP has been extended, so those municipalities that wish to extend the deadline for justification can request it since last Friday. Specifically in the province, to adults of the city of Betanzos, the municipalities of Ribeira, Porto do Son, Santiago, Bergondo, Ferrol, Arteixo and Cambre can be welcomed.
The subdelegate stressed that “as a whole, the execution of the program in the different municipalities is going at a good pace, as can be seen in this work of remodelling of Betanzos, so the Government expects that in most cases the municipalities comply with the expected execution deadlines. Even so, all municipalities that need it will be able to request an extension of the justification period for the execution of the subsidies of Line 1.” The deadline for the request for extensions initiated last Friday, will remain open until next September 30.
The subdelegate explained that with this extension of time the Ministry responds to the difficulties of some municipalities to execute and justify the works within the scheduled time, although “each project will be analyzed individually, and thus be able to offer each local entity according to its specificities the possibility of requesting this extension in a motivated way.”
In addition, María Rivas reported that in the coming days the Ministry will convene a meeting with all interested municipalities to provide them with the details, and to answer any questions or queries they may wish to make. The objective of the Ministry is “to be at the disposal of the municipalities and local entities to support them, accompany them and help them with the objective that the actions contemplated in the PIREP go forward”.
9 projects in 8 municipalities of the province
María Rivas recalled that the Local PIREP is a Program for the improvement of energy efficiency and accessibility of buildings of municipal ownership. In total, 9 projects in 8 municipalities of the province were beneficiaries of Line 1 of this program. The municipalities of the province received a total of € 10,149,300.30 from this support line.

The subdelegate also recalled that between the PIREP LOCAL and the PIREP AUTONICO, there will be a total of 18 actions in the province that together amount to almost € 20.5 million. These investments allow the rehabilitation of buildings that serve the citizens, such as schools, sports centers and other municipal facilities, contributing to improve the public heritage and to comply with the Urban Agenda.
