Today a new meeting of the Alcoa follow-up committee was held in the Ministry of Industry and Tourism in which the special commissioner for the PERTE of Industrial Decarbonization, Luis Ángel Colunga, the Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Innovation of the Xunta de Galicia, María Jesús Lorenzana, and representatives of the company and the business committee participated.
During the meeting, the company, without ruling out any option, has presented a series of non-binding offers for the possible sale of the industrial complex of San Cibrao. In this regard, Alcoa has requested that the deadlines for the process be extended because the companies themselves have asked for more time to finalize their proposals.
At the same time, the Government of Spain continues to work and analyze measures that favor a solution agreed between company and workers for what calls for maximum collaboration and involvement to the Xunta de Galicia. The Government maintains a firm commitment to continue working for a strategic sector such as aluminum in Galicia to continue in Spain.
The parties have called for meetings in the coming weeks so that Alcoa can present and define the non-binding offers referred to at this morning’s meeting.
