The subdelegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, announced this morning that, from today, all municipalities that wish to extend the deadline for the justification of the projects subsidized in Line 1 of the Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings of local entities (PIREP Local) may request an extension to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU). "Although overall the programme is moving at a good pace and the government expects local authorities to meet the expected implementation deadlines, all beneficiaries who wish to request an extension of the justification period for the implementation of Line 1 grants, which expires on 30 September, will be able to do so."
The subdelegate explained that the Ministry is aware of the difficulties of some municipalities to comply with the completion of the works, “so it will study the situation individually and on a case-by-case basis, to offer local entities the possibility of requesting a motivated extension in time.”
The deadline for requesting extensions will remain open from today and until next September 30. The request must be made through a form of request that will be available at MIVAU’s electronic headquarters. The subdelegate stressed that “all requests will be studied one by one by the Ministry, which will resolve them in a motivated way.” Likewise, Abel Losada explained that in the coming days the Ministry will convene a multilateral meeting with all interested municipalities to provide details and attend any consultation they want to make. The objective of the Ministry, he said, is "to be willing to support, accompany and help local municipalities and entities in whatever way they can, so that the actions contemplated in the PIREP can be carried out."
17 projects in 15 municipalities of the province
Abel Losada recalled that the Local PIREP is a program to improve the energy efficiency and accessibility of buildings owned by the city that has different lines of help. In total, 17 projects in 15 municipalities of the province were beneficiaries of Line 1 of this program. In the region of Vigo, 7 projects are being developed that received €3.8 million in grants; in Pontevedra, 5, with funding over €5 million; in Paradanta 2, with a contribution of almost €1 million; in Salnés another 2, for €1.8 million; and in Deza, 1, which received a grant of €1.1 million. In total, the municipalities of the province received more than 12 million euros from this line of aid.
Finally, the subdelegate stressed that “it is important that the actions of the PIREP are not delayed in order to comply with the deadline committed to Europe”.
The different calls for the Programme in the province made it possible to finance 49 actions in 22 municipalities, which received grants worth 39 million euros. These investments allow the rehabilitation of buildings that serve the citizens, such as schools, sports centers, health centers and other municipal facilities, contributing to improve the public heritage and to comply with the Urban Agenda.
