The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, received this afternoon the first group of neighbors who signed up for theatrical visits to the headquarters of the subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña. For the second year and after the welcome of the initiative, the Government’s subdelegation reopens its doors during the afternoons of Tuesday and Wednesday so that previously registered people can visit the oldest rooms of this headquarters
The visits will be directed by Suso Martínez, historian, populariser and tourist guide actor, a reference in the realization of this type of visits; the historian will guide a group of 25 people incarnating a character, between real and fictitious, with which he will narrate the large and small stories related to the evolution of the building that was the headquarters of the Customs, the Civil Government and today the subdelegation of Government.
María Rivas pointed out that Open Administration Week “is a good opportunity to get closer to the citizens and for them to know the values and work that is done by the administration, which is done at all times in their favor and at their disposal”. Likewise, he stressed the importance of promoting transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and the collaboration of the General Administration of the State in the territory, ideas that motivate the realization of this program of activities.
The Corunnese Subdelegation will complete the events of the Open Administration Week with a workshop on customs controls in international merchandise trade, reserved for the professors of the higher cycle of International Trade of the IES Ramón Menéndez Pidal.
In the visits that begin this afternoon, reference will be made to the history of the building that was built in the eighteenth century to serve as the headquarters of the Customs, since in 1947 it was rehabilitated as a thirst of the Civil Government of A Coruña, and currently hosts the subdelegation of the Government.
The participants will be able to see the first floor, where the official offices of the Subdelegate of the Government, and of the Deputy Secretary of the Delegation of the Government in Galicia are located, as well as the meeting room. Already on the second floor you can visit several rooms that make up the former residence of the Civil Governors equipped with their period furniture.
Within the spaces that can be visited, different outstanding pieces are preserved such as the armchair of the former civil governors of the early twentieth century, the dispatch tables, the table that was used for the “councillors” of ministers held by Arias Navarro in A Coruña in 1974 and 1975 before the councils of ministers held in Mearas and part of the official dining room of the civil governors.
