The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, invited citizens to learn about the functioning and work of the government in Galicia through the events of the Open Administration Week 2024, which will take place between the 10th and 16th of this month. The program extends to the four Galician provinces through the Government Subdelegations, including both events open to all citizens and others specifically aimed at students, staff of the General State Administration (AGE) or professional groups.
Pedro Blanco stressed the importance of promoting transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and the collaboration of the General Administration of the State in the territory, ideas that motivate the realization of this program of activities. He valued Open Administration Week as “a good opportunity for all citizens to approach the Administration and know their values and work, at all times in their favor and at their disposal.”
Open Administration Week will start in the Government Delegation (link to all information) on Monday, 10 June, at 11.30 a.m. at its headquarters. The Government delegate will receive students from the 4th ESO of IES Zalaeta, who will make a guided tour of the Delegation’s facilities. This activity will provide practical information on the main services provided by the AGE, with special attention to the services of foreigners, gender violence, transparency and first experience for young people.
On Tuesday, June 11, a day will take place in the Chamber of Commerce of A Coruña on the role played by the area of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Delegation in foreign trade, aimed at professionals of the companies associated to the Chamber of Commerce itself. On Wednesday 12, the Delegation will host a report on the implementation of the Violeta Points in the offices of the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), aimed at training the workers of its offices on this use of employment offices.
The events will be closed in the Delegation, which will host on Friday 14 the training day “Finance for all”, in which staff of the Bank of Spain will explain various topics related to finances to the staff of the Administration that wishes. On the same day there will also be a visit by the Ministry of Transport to the already completed works of the lower pass of the Solymar, in Perillo (Oleiros), in which the improvement that the changes entailed and its technical characteristics will be exposed.

Activities in the four provinces
- Lugo
The Subdelegation of the Government in Lugo prepares as a central act an open day for all citizens, which will be held on Thursday 13 at 10 a.m. Its objective is to bring to the citizens information about the services provided by the Subdelegation, such as those of foreigners or those of the units of violence against women, in addition to the ways of relating digitally with the Administration.
- A Coruña
The events in the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña will begin on Tuesday 11, at 5:00 p.m., with the staging of the first of the dramatized visits to the building. In it, the historian and tourist guide Suso Martínez will review the history of it, starting from the times in which it was the headquarters of the Civil Government. This event will have a replica on Wednesday 12 at the same time. The Corunnese Subdelegation will also have a workshop on para-customs controls in international merchandise trade, reserved for the professors of the higher cycle of International Trade of the IES Ramón Menéndez Pidal.
- Ourense
The Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense hosts on Tuesday, June 11 at 12 noon an information day on e-government, open to all citizens and taught by its own staff. In addition, the attendees will participate in a visit to know the building and all the services of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense.
It also organizes three guided visits: to the Provincial Police Station (aimed at justice professionals, on Tuesday 11 at 10.30 a.m.), to the Historical Archive (designed for students but open to citizens, on Wednesday 12 at 12.00 p.m.) and to the Nós Public Library (for CEIP students Amadeo Rodríguez Barroso, Curros Enríquez and Cardenal Cisneros; on 12 and 13 June at 9.30 a.m.).
- Pontevedra
The Subdelegation of the Government in Pontevedra is scheduled to hold an open day with neighborhood federations and associations of Pontevedra, Vigo and Cangas on June 13. On the visit of these entities, the activities of the Subdelegation will be presented to them and their proposals on the opening of the administration to the citizens will be collected.
Open Government Partnership
Open Gov Week (OGW) is an initiative promoted by the Open Gov Week worldwide that aims to disseminate its principles and practices to create a culture, shared by public administrations and citizens, based on the values of transparency and integrity, civic participation and promotion of fundamental rights, as well as accountability.
Spain has been a member of the Open Government Alliance since 2011, and since then participated in the organization and celebration of six editions, in which it revalidated its leadership among the member States of the Alliance in the organization of activities to promote the culture of open government. No 2024, in view of the coincidence of the dates of the celebration of the Open Government Week (27 to 31 May) with the electoral period of the call for European elections, the celebration of the Open Administration Week was fixed from 10 to 16 June.
