The subdelegate of the Government, María Rivas, together with the mayor of Bergondo, Alejandra Pérez, inaugurated this afternoon the course on Aquatic Rescue for volunteers and civil protection volunteers whose objective is to train the students in the techniques, methods, materials and tests of which aquatic rescue consists, as well as to acquire adequate skills and knowledge to be able to intervene in emergencies in this field.
This course is part of the Training Offer 2024 of the National School of Civil Protection, which is a national reference in the training of emergency teams and personnel who coordinate and direct civil protection services. It is financed through the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of the Interior. The course is attended by 20 students and will run from 9 to 12 May, with a duration of 30 hours.
The course will take place in the town of Bergondo. It consists of a theoretical part that comprises three didactic units: general principles of sanity, aquatic rescue and first aid; and another practical part that comprises - among other topics - swimming and diving styles, CPR, DESA, traumatisms, techniques of use of materials, etc.
A subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña indicated that in order for this essential training in emergencies to reach the whole territory, it is necessary to have the collaboration of local groups, municipalities and other administrations. For this reason he wanted to thank the city of Bergondo, and especially the head of civil protection, for their initiative for the development of this course. He also recognized the people who make up the civil protection team of the city council that has been in the service of the citizens for more than 30 years.
The National Civil Protection System Law 17/2015, of 9 July, recognizes the importance of civil protection volunteering as a fundamental support for emergencies.
The deputy delegate pointed out that “both this Government and society as a whole is aware of how important your presence is, your voluntary work in emergency situations, but also in many activities and everyday situations in which fortunately we can count on all of you”.
María Rivas took advantage of this inauguration to recognize all the volunteers and civil protection volunteers, for the excellent work they do in favor of the community, and wanted to give special thanks to the women and men who signed up for this training activity, and invited them to take the opportunity and enjoy the course.
