The Government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, today encouraged the new subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, to take on the challenge of promoting and disseminating the investments and projects developed by the Government of Spain in this province and to guarantee its citizens an open, close and resolutive Administration. “From today, you have the mission of being the Government of Spain in the province, of being the reflection of the Government of President Pedro Sánchez,” he said.
Pedro Blanco presided today at the headquarters of the Subdelegation of the Government in Ourense the act of taking office of the new head of this body, of whom he highlighted his professional value and the “generosity and dialogue that marked his professional trajectory in public education”.
In his speech, the delegate reiterated the role of the Subdelegation as “catalyst and channeler of the Government’s action in the province” which translates into the monitoring of the different actions of the Government, with special attention to infrastructures, or in the execution of the funds of the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience in municipalities and companies. “Citizens have the right to know that the Government of Spain is behind social housing, aid to improve the energy efficiency of housing, renovation of hospital facilities or actions to promote sustainable mobility, among others,” he insisted.
The delegate also had words for Emilio González, predecessor in office, whom he thanked for the five years at the head of the Agency “in which your vocation of public service was always very present, which you already had as a doctor but which became more accentuated during your time in the Subdelegation of Ourense”.
In response, Emilio González thanked the Government for the trust placed in him throughout these years and had words of recognition for the dedication and loyalty of the people who work in the Subdelegation of the Government, National Police, Civil Guard and State Administration agencies in the province.
New government subdelegate
The new subdelegate of the Government in Ourense, Eladio Santos, was appointed this week through a resolution signed by the delegate of the Government and that will be published in the next few days in the BOE. Born in the Barco de Valdeorras in 1964, he is Professor of Secondary Education in the specialty of Geography and History, and until now he taught at the IES Lauro Olmo de O Barco de Valdeorras.
As a gesture towards his teaching profession, Eladio Santos has today promised the position on a copy of the Spanish Constitution opened by the page of article 27 that recognizes the fundamental right of all people to receive an education and guarantees to freedom of teaching.
In his speech, he praised the dynamism of the province of Ourense and made himself available to "mayors and mayors, trade unions, businessmen, associations of Ourense society and the security forces to contribute to the transformations that our province needs." With regard to his mandate, he put as axes of work “knowledge, determination and work and decisions in the right direction.”
Act in the Subdelegation
The inauguration ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation in Ourense and was attended by local and provincial authorities and heads of various agencies and institutions. Several parliamentary spokespersons attended; the president of the Provincial Council of Ourense; the sub-delegates of the Government in A Coruña and Lugo and the sub-delegate of the Government in Pontevedra and the territorial delegate of the Xunta, among other authorities.
