The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, chaired, together with the mayor of Santiago, Goretti Sanmartin, the Local Security Board in which the measures planned inside and outside the enclosure were reviewed as well as the control of the access roads. As in previous years before an event of this nature, the subdelegate reiterated that there will be a reinforced presence of the National Police and the Civil Traffic Guard, as well as the Local Police along with the private security services.
Regarding the National Police Force, the Government’s deputy delegate confirmed that there will be a device that will have canine units, the Tedax, air security unit with drones, a theft prevention device, the mobile brigade with presence also in the passenger stations, and there will also be units of the UIP (Police Intervention Unit); in short, a device that has more than 225 people and that will also be reinforced with the presence of the Civil Traffic Guard that will have more than 60 agents throughout the three days of concert. All these troops will be coordinated with the common prevention and reaction service of the city itself, so they will join the citizen security forces of the local police station.
An event of this nature that is expected to be attended by around 40,000 people requires a specific operation “this influx obliges them to design a special operation, which guarantees security from a static point of view, that is, during the concerts that take place in 3 different scenarios, as dynamic, guaranteeing the access routes, both of the people and of the health and emergency teams, if necessary”, detailed the subdelegate. It is also necessary to plan the traffic device to guarantee the arrival of the people attending the Monte del Gozo, both at the entrance and at the exit and thus guarantee the safety of all the people who attend the half hundred scheduled performances.
The subdelegate detailed that the National Police and the Civil Traffic Guard will deploy about 290 agents belonging to the different units: “This is a very important device, which will mobilize a considerable number of National Police media as well as the Civil Traffic Guard and the Police Intervention Unit (UIP).”
María Rivas wanted to make an appeal that “all the people who attend the concerts, listen to the indications of the organization, that they are respectful of the security measures, and follow the indications of the organization and of the State Security Forces and Corps; since all of them have as their sole intention the best development of the concerts for the enjoyment of all the attendees.”
The deputy delegate of the Government especially appreciated the involvement and work of all the security forces and emergency services, since such a device involves not only the different units of the National Police, Civil Traffic Guard and Local Police, but also those responsible for Civil Protection, the Red Cross, private security agents, firefighters and many volunteer personnel. He also had a mention for the organizers of the festival who once again did a great job. He thanked all of them for their efforts to make this new edition of the Son del Camino, a safe event.
