The subdelegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided today an operational meeting of commanders of the National Police, Local Police and Security of the RC Deportivo to review the device that will be deployed in the surroundings of the Municipal Stadium of Riazor in the Plaza de Cuatro Caminos, as well as on Sunday in the Plaza de María Pita .
This Saturday thousands of people are scheduled to gather, among whom they will come to witness the match inside the stadium, and later they will travel the Cuatro Caminos to celebrate with the players and the club the promotion to 2nd division. “This influx obliges them to design a special operation, which guarantees security from a static point of view, that is, at the time of the match, as dynamic, guaranteeing the access routes, both for people and health and emergency teams, if necessary,” explained the deputy delegate. In addition, the necessary device was prepared to guarantee the arrival of the players to the square of Cuatro Caminos and the corresponding device in the square to guarantee the safety of all the people who attend the celebration.
The headquarters of the Subdelegation of the Government hosted this meeting which, in addition to the subdelegate, who presided over the meeting, was attended by the councilor for citizen attention and security of the city of A Coruña, Montserrat Paz Romero; the director of the area of citizen security of A Coruña, Carlos García Touriñan; the deputy secretary general of the Delegation, Eva Vázquez; the head of the Provincial Commissariat of A Coruña of the National Police, Fernando J. Martínez; the Chief Commissioner of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police, Ana Belén Gómez; the Director of Security of the RC Deportivo de A Coruña, Iván Sánchez, and different officers of the National Police and the UIP.
The subdelegate appealed to the experience of the National Police and the Local Police of A Coruña in this type of multitudinous events to predict a celebration in which “the sporting and festive component exclusively prevails”.
For this link, he explained, the National Police will deploy 120 agents: “This is a very important device, which will mobilize media and personnel from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), specialized teams in subsoil, canine units and Citizen Security personnel.”
The difference from the previous day, the device prepared on this occasion is that of a common match since the club does not have the installation of external fanzone or screen, therefore the celebration will take place exclusively in the square of Cuatro Caminos after the end of the match. In fact, starting at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, the closure of the streets adjacent to the Cuatro Caminos fountain is planned to prepare the area for the event. In addition, the IPU will also be in the area from 19:00 hours to secure it and take the necessary measures.
For Sunday, a special device will also be established around the Plaza de María Pita and to ensure the route of the bus of the players between the municipal stadium of Riazor and the square itself.
The deputy delegate of the Government especially appreciated the involvement and work of all the security forces and emergency services data that a device of this nature involves not only the different units of National Police and Local Police, but also those responsible for Civil Protection, the Red Cross, private security agents, firefighters and many volunteer personnel. He thanked all of them for their efforts to make this day a safe celebration.
