The new model of Civil Registry, promoted by the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, already reaches almost 80% of the population of our province, thanks to the progressive implementation of Dicireg, a comprehensive electronic file processing system that helps to bring this service closer to the citizens, regardless of their place of residence.
This week, the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the resolutions that agree to the entry into service of the computer application Dicireg in the offices of the Civil Registry of Cangas and Vilagarcía, which join those of the judicial parties of Ponteareas, Lalín, Cambados, Pontevedra, Marín and Vigo, already integrated into this system. In total, 8 of the 13 judicial parties in the province, covering 42 municipalities, are already adhering to the new model. It is expected that by June 2025 all Civil Records will be integrated into the new system.
New Civil Registry
The Ministry of Justice is involved in an important project of modernization of the Civil Registry that represents a change of the model that we currently know with the aim of making it more agile and closer to the citizens. This new Civil Registry is configured as free, unique and electronic, and allows interoperability between public administrations, thus simplifying procedures, streamlining procedures and contributing to the elimination of displacements and the reduction of waiting times for users. Among other things, Dicireg allows a full and automatic integration with documents such as the municipal register.
It is also based on individual registration, through which each person is uniquely identified by his personal code, and allows to attest to the facts and acts of the civil status of each one ordered in a logical and chronological way.
The new files are completely electronic and the registration information has a digital format, thus enabling telematic access through electronic identification to citizens. However, the number and location of the existing offices, as well as personnel who provide their services in this institution, are preserved. In this sense and with the aim of contributing to territorial and digital cohesion, a Civil Registry office is maintained in each municipality, guaranteeing access to all citizens.
