The government delegate in Galicia, Pedro Blanco, held a meeting on Monday with representatives of the Navantia-Ferrol Works Council. Pedro Blanco, accompanied by the subdelegate in the province, María Rivas, listened to the demands of the workers in relation to the collective agreement and undertook to transfer their needs to the Ministry of Finance.
During the meeting, the delegate transferred the Government’s commitment to employment and the shipbuilding industry in Galicia, while addressing with the Works Council the numerous projects that the Government has in place with Navantia and the opportunities they offer for the Ferrolano shipyard, adding more than 5 billion in investments.
In this regard, they analyzed the progress in the construction of the five frigates within the framework of the F-110 program for the Spanish Navy, with a cost of 4,325 million euros, which involves 13 years of workload and 9,000 jobs. They also talked about the new Digital Block Factory, which will involve the modernization and technological development of the shipyards with the Digital Transformation Plan of Navantia in Ferrol equipped with more than 170 million euros; and the Digital Twin Center of Excellence, with another 8.2 million euros. Finally, they studied the needs for the construction of the new combat supply ship (BAC or AOR) for the Navy, commissioned by the Ministry of Defense, with a budget of almost 440 million euros.
“Navantia’s workload in Ferrol is guaranteed for the next decade,” the delegate stressed.

At the meeting, the government delegate undertook to report the demands of the workers to the Ministry of Finance. The sub-delegate in the province, María Rivas, also participated. They addressed the different projects that the Government has under way with Navantia in the Ferrolano shipyard and that add more than 5,000 M€, such as the construction of the five F-110 frigates, the Digital Block Factory, the Digital Twin Center of Excellence or new combat supply ship, among others.
