The Instituto Ferial de Vigo (IFEVI) hosted this morning a meeting promoted by the Subdelegation of the Government in Pontevedra, in which the special operation of traffic in the surroundings of the fairground was coordinated, on the occasion of the celebration of the 9th edition of Navalia on 21, 22 and 23 May. The meeting was chaired by the deputy delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, and by the managing director of IFEVI, Arsenio Prieto, and was attended by the director of Navalia, Javier Arnau, as well as representatives of the General Directorate of Traffic, the Civil Traffic Guard, the Local Police of Vigo, the Ministry of Transport, and Audasa.
Thus, the Civil Traffic Guard and the Local Police, together with the organization, will collaborate to establish the necessary devices for the correct mobility and fluidity of traffic during the days of the event. A greater volume of vehicles is expected in this edition due to the closure of the airport. However, it is planned that part of the parking of the terminal itself will be enabled for the parking of visitors, which will be added to those of the fairground, ensuring sufficient capacity.
Abel Losada thanked all those present at the meeting for their involvement and offered Navalia all the collaboration to ensure the maximum possible fluidity in the accesses, remembering that “at specific times it can be a complicated task due to the large influx of public and that the capacities of the infrastructure are limited.”
Strategic sector
Finally, the deputy delegate expressed the support of the Government of Spain to Navalia and all the events that involve the promotion of the industry of the province. Thus, he pointed out that the Vigo shipbuilding industry is “a benchmark for the quality of its shipyards, which are recognized for their ability to diversify and for their competitiveness.” In this line, he recalled that the Ministry of Industry and Tourism has awarded more than 4 million euros to 14 projects of 8 companies in the province within the framework of the PERTE Naval. On the other hand, the Government of Spain invested 146 million euros in the last years in the shipyard of Vigo Armón, in three commissions: the new oceanic ship of the Civil Guard (34.9 M€), the new oceanographic ship #Odón de Buen of the IEO (85 M€) and the four patrol news of the Civil Guard (26M€).
