The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, intervened this morning in the opening ceremony of the II Meeting “Job Fair 45+” organized by the Chamber of Commerce of A Coruña, and which brings together today more than 500 job seekers and 70 companies from the different productive sectors of Galicia.
During her speech, the subdelegate wanted to highlight the commitment of the Government of Spain that works from day one to improve employment, wages and benefits, indicating that “there is nothing more to boost the growth of a country than to have a modern and dynamic labour market. That’s why employment comes first; people come first.”
María Rivas recalled that “through the transfers of the State we are firmly committed to improving employment policies. Thus, Galicia received since 2021 more than 645 million euros to improve the labor market, especially for the improvement of employment opportunities, professional orientation, entrepreneurship, modernization and training and requalification.”
In this sense, he stressed the good progress of the labor market with “more than 21,250,000 workers in Spain, 1,127,700 in Galicia. Historical data both nationally and in Galicia”. Likewise, he indicated the effort made by the Government in the constant updating of the SMI, accumulating an increase since 2018 of 54%. And also the commitment to people in situations of unemployment through the reform of the benefits that managed to place the coverage of unemployed people at an historic 68%.
María Rivas, indicated that with these actions the Government “has shown that you can face crises without leaving anyone behind. We show that we can grow economically as a country and create jobs, without neglecting social coverage or wages.”
The deputy delegate of the Government congratulated the Chamber of Commerce of A Coruña for the organization of this ‘II Job Fair: 45+’ meetings to link the supply of companies looking for talent with the demand of job seekers over 45 years old.
