The deputy delegate of the Government in A Coruña, María Rivas, presided today an operational meeting of commanders of the National Police, Local Police and Security of the RC Deportivo to approve the device that will be deployed in the environment of the Municipal Stadium of Riazor this Sunday.
On this day, thousands of people are expected to gather, including those who will come to witness the match inside the stadium and those who will witness the match from the screens that are going to be installed outside. “This influx obliges them to design a special operation, which guarantees security from a static point of view, that is, at the time of the match, as well as dynamic, guaranteeing the access routes, both for people and health and emergency teams, if necessary,” said the deputy delegate.
The headquarters of the Government Subdelegation hosted this meeting which, in addition to the subdelegate, who presided over the meeting, was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of the Delegation, Eva Vázquez; the Chief Commissioner of the Provincial Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police, Ana Belén Gómez; the Director of Security of the RC Deportivo de A Coruña, Iván Sánchez, and various commanders of the National and Local Police of A Coruña.
The subdelegate appealed to the experience of the National Police and the Local Police of A Coruña in this type of multitudinous events to predict a celebration in which “the sporting and festive component exclusively prevails”.
To this end, he explained, the National Police will deploy 120 officers and use a drone to support from the air the tasks of surveillance and prevention: “This is a very important device, which will mobilize media and personnel from the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), specialized subsoil teams, canine units and Citizen Security personnel.”
