Nine of the fourteen Pontevedres-funded projects will be developed within the framework of the tractor project promoted by Navantia-Pymar and aimed at the development of the shipyard ecosystem, and the remaining four will be launched under the Tecnaval tractor project, aimed at the naval industrial fabric and led by the Technological Center of the Medium and Small Shipyards, Soermar.
The four companies in Pontevedra that participate in the first tractor project take up 5% of the funds granted by this initiative, receiving an investment of more than 2.4 million euros. The subdelegate pointed out that “with the aid of this PERTE we intend to improve the quality of employment and increase the competitiveness of this sector, fundamental for our province, betting on quality, qualification and digitalization to achieve high quotas of competitiveness and modernization in the construction of ships” and explained that the PERTE are “the custom suits” that Spain needs, which is the transformation of its economy. He stressed that “we must not forget that PERTEs are the centrepiece of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), designed to boost our country’s pandemic and, most importantly, transform its productive fabric so that, in the case of another crisis, not necessarily a pandemic, we are stronger and more resilient, hence the title of the Plan elaborated by the government and applauded from Brussels.”
The Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE) for the shipbuilding industry awarded, within the framework of this call, 81 M€ to more than 107 Spanish companies with the aim of contributing to the modernization of the sector in Spain, increasing its competitiveness by around 15% and achieving an annual growth rate of 9%. This PERTE is expected to contribute to the creation of around 3,100 quality jobs, mainly in peripheral regions, thus contributing to the demographic challenge policy.
