On Tuesday, April 30, the next phase of the traffic diversion of the humanization works of the FE-14 (Avda de As Pías) in Ferrol will be launched, which have been agreed between the MITMS, the Government Delegation in Galicia and the City of Ferrol (PRTR)

On Tuesday, April 30 at 22:00 hours, the Marqués de Santa Cruz Street between Caranza (Rúa Telleiras) and O Bertón (FE-13) will be reopened to traffic and the FE-11 road (Carretera de la Trinchera) will then be cut in the stretch between the FE-13 (Avenida Nicasio Pérez) and the Diapasón roundabout in both directions. This complies with the estimated dates of the end of April to establish this new phase of diversion that has been scheduled and agreed in the previous meetings held by the MITMS, the Government Delegation in Galicia and the Subdelegation of the Government in A Coruña with the City of Ferrol itself. The new diversion has been exposed by the MITMS and City of Ferrol to the representatives of the affected neighborhoods: Caranza, Esteiro, Recemil, Ultramar and O Bertón and representatives of Navantia. The detours will be duly signposted with the new accesses to the neighborhoods and the city center of Ferrol

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility advances in the execution of the works of Humanization of the Avenue of As Pías FE-14 in Ferrol (A Coruña) included in the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience (PRTR) financed by the European Union Next Generation of the EU.

The implementation of this new phase of diversion has been agreed with the City of Ferrol and it is planned that it will be implemented from 22h on April 30, with the opening to traffic of Marqués de Santa Cruz Street connecting directly the neighborhoods of Caranza and O Bertón, and the subsequent closure of the Trinchera road (FE-11) in the stretch between FE-13 (Avenida Nicasio Pérez) and the roundabout of the Diapasón in both directions.

The date and time chosen for the entry into operation of the new detour are traffic valley hours, as it is night time, being festive the next day, which will give a margin of adaptation of users to the new detour, which will be duly signposted and which have been coordinated with the City of Ferrol and Local Police and with the DGT and its Northwest-Cantabrian Traffic Management Center.

The MITMS thus complies with the deadline agreed with the City of Ferrol to open the new detour at the end of April.

The new traffic conditions will occur next Tuesday, April 30, at 10:00 pm, and will consist of:

  • Cut the road FE-11 (Highway of the Trench) between the FE-13 (Avenue of Nicasio Perez) and the roundabout of the Tuning Fork in both directions.
  • Commissioning of Avenida Marqués de Santa Cruz, which will connect the neighborhoods of Caranza (rúa Telleiras) and O Bertón (until FE-13, Avenida de Nicasio Pérez)
  • Due to this condition, the following alternative itineraries are proposed depending on the destinations:

Departure and entrance to the city center:

  • It is generally recommended to enter and leave the city of Ferrol through the AP-9 and FE-15 (Port Road). Detour recommended especially for access to Navantia.
  • Entrance and exit through the Bridge of As Pías, through the Rúa Telleiras and the Avenida do Mar.

Connection between Esteiro and Polígono de A Gándara (FE-13):

  • Avenida Marqués de Santa Cruz and Avenida Salvador Allende, which will connect the Telleiras rua with the FE-13 (Avenida Nicasio Pérez).
  • Itinerario a través de la Rúa Nova de Caranza, hacia la Carretera de Castilla.
