The new Aliens Files Processing Unit (UTEX), under the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, is already in full operation in Vigo once the start-up and training of the human team of 50 people that integrates it is completed. The UTEX, which since last February has begun to resolve procedures, received yesterday the visit of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Cristina Asacia, and the Director General of Migration, Carlos Mora, who visited the facilities in Calle de García Barbón, 36 and shared impressions with the staff.
The coordinator, Mar Martínez Pacheco, accompanied by the heads of service, realised that UTEX responds to a new management model for the support of the most saturated Immigration offices in Spain. To date, we are already dealing with cases from Madrid, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands, Tenerife, Gipuzkoa, Lleida, Girona, Navarra, Asturias, Segovia and Teruel. For the moment, the processing and resolution of long-term, long-term cards of the European Union, Community family, Community permanent and authorizations for family roots is promoted. They will soon begin to process the study permits for these 11 provinces and those that are being incorporated.
The UTEX is a unit focused on work by objectives and as a result of this are the almost 100,000 files that it intends to “move” in its first year of operation, which means a percentage close to 10% that can be increased up to 15% or even up to 20% of the administrative volume generated by the Immigration Offices that it supports.
The new Unit responds to a delocalized and completely digitized Administration model, with “zero paper”, agile and effective. At the same time, it opens the doors to a reduction in costs and also to homologation throughout Spain in the processing of files as complex as those in the area of Immigration.
